WHAT'S THE BEEF?
U.S. standard BEEF production protocol IS to inject feedlot animals with ARTIFICIAL HORMONES - it adds an additional 195 lbs per animal per Merck Animal Health.
Additionally, local grociers do not have the visibility as to whether they are buying domestic cattle/beef VS imported cattle.
Grocery stores and restaurants use old cows and bulls to produce steak & burger as it brings down the cost of beef. These animals range from 3-15 years of age and are not ideal for consumption; with age diseases can increase in cattle, additionally meat becomes tougher as animals age.
